On-Line Resource List
Increasingly, the Internet is becoming a valuable resource for both theological and practical resources for Christian living. But there are drawbacks. With so much information, how can someone know where to go to get what they might be looking for? And what about the “garbage” that you have to sift through? Listed below are some resources that we have found very helpful. While we cannot, of course, endorse all that these sources might offer … we are confident they will be useful in your discipleship endeavors.
Bible Bulletin Board … http://www.biblebb.com/ This is a
favorite site. You will find here great study material that is sorted by topic. It is also THE source for those who enjoy studying Dr. John MacArthur … over 1000
sermons, Bible study guides, and Question/Answer topics listed. The source is current and updated often.
Christian Classics Ethereal Library … http://www.ccel.org/ As the name implies, this is a classic. From Augustine, to Calvin, to Luther …there is enough classic Christian literature here to keep you busy reading for many months. If you are a hymn lover you’ll want to check out the hymnology resources.
Desiring God Ministries … http://www.desiringgod.org/ This is the resource page for Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, MN. , and their pastor, John Piper. This source has much more than meets the eye. A little time spent here “navigating” around will be well rewarded. For even the casual visitor, however, you will find the “Sermon Manuscripts” (listed by text,
very helpful) and the “Topic Index” very useful. Don’t rush here though - - it is time well spent. Don’t forget to check out the “Biographies” in the “On-line Library” section.
Biblical Studies Foundation … http://www.bible.org/ A site generating from the Dallas Theological Seminary, this is a tremendous resource for both “lighter” study and the “serious” theological pursuits. Look through the “Bible Studies Area” on the left of the home page and the “Other Resources” section as well.
Sermon Audio.Com … http://www.sermonaudio.com/main.asp If you prefer to listen to good teachers, you’ll love this sight. You’ll find sermons here listed by Bible text … thousands of them. There are even some “classics” here. Also, this page is full of other information … spend some time here. I know many who use this as their “home” page. It delivers news, etc.
SermonCentral.Com … http://www.sermoncentral.com/ What you might find in audio at SermonAudio, you’ll find here in print. Thousands of messages from a wide range of ministers and teachers. Careful here as you read!
The Master’s Seminary …
http://www.tms.edu/ Certainly a favorite site here! Go directly to the “Links to Web Resources” section and you’ll find a well organized guide to study on the web. Many of the sites listed on this page will be found there as well.
Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals …
http://www.alliancenet.org/ Check out the “Publications and Articles” section here. It is full of really good study.
Old-Fashioned Christian Radio … http://www.oldchristianradio.com/ Just like the name implies … the music here is really good. I am not too familiar with the other information on this site.
WAVA Radio …
http://www.wava.com/ Great teaching available on this radio station. If you are a “High-Speed” internet user this is a great site to give a listen to. The schedule of speakers/teachers is listed.
Phil Johnson’s Web Site …
http://www.gty.org/~phil/menu.htm If you haven’t found it yet, it’s probably here. Phil Johnson is a pastor at Grace Community Church in California. An accomplished and “trusted” scholar, Phil has done a great job in gathering and monitoring a lot of web information. The site is a bit confusing to navigate. Check out “The Spurgeon Archives”
, the largest collection of Spurgeon available anywhere. Also a must visit is “Phil’s Bookmarks”
. You’ll find there Phil’s web links with a good review of each. It includes warnings of bad theology, and really bad theology. Finally here is the jumping point to “The Hall of Church History”
a tremendous resource for the serious Bible student.
John Barnett’s Web Site …
http://www.discoverthebook.org/ Pastor John Barnett teaching ministry. Pastor Barnett leads the Tulsa Bible Church and is a devoted minister of God's Word. A former faculty member of the Master's College and Seminary, Pastor John is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary.
I hope that you find these resources helpful. Every time I think of the tremendous day in which we live, a time of so much information, I am challenged by the key verse for our Awana program … 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This moves me to deeper, careful study … and I am always rewarded by the Spirit of God with a new appreciation for the richness of His Word. My you find the same reward!
